How to make an easy water elevator in Minecraft [2020]

This guide focuses on a set of elevators that use water to push you up and down. Don’t worry, you won’t drown inside because the method we use will create air bubbles for you as you go up and down. No one wants to constantly go up and down the stairs all day, so make sure you read on to create a quick and easy water elevator for your Minecraft the seed.

First, you’ll need at least one iron bucket that you can fill with water, your choice of building blocks, a core sand block, a magma block, and two signs of any kind. Iron buckets can be made with three iron bars each. When you make them, collect blocks from a water source in an ocean or river. Soul sand and magma cube can be found at the bottom in many areas, but make sure you come equipped with armor as the bottom is quite dangerous. As for building blocks, we prefer to use glass blocks to make it a little cooler, but as long as you have a lot of blocks to make a wall, it doesn’t matter what you use.

To get started, start creating a column with your building blocks. You want to surround a single block with only one open space going up. In the middle of your column, dig the ground one block lower and place your core sand.

Create a two block high walkway on the core sand and place two panels on the sides. These panels will prevent water from coming out of the elevator, while allowing you to cross them. Go to the top of your elevator and place water in the open space to go down to the core sand. Make sure each space in the elevator has a water source block or it will not work. You will know you have done it right if you see the water moving upwards with bubbles.

Now enter and the water will rush you up, and as indicated at the beginning of the guide, you will not drown because of the bubbles flowing next to you.

Now that you can go up, it’s time to make another column to go down. Do the same steps as you did before, but instead of soul sand at the bottom, put the magma block. If you’ve done it right, you’ll see bubbles flowing down to the magma block.

Be careful though, while standing on the magma block for survival, you will suffer some damage, so when you get off the elevator, make sure you get out and get healthy and don’t get trapped on the block because you can’t swim against the current. If you’d rather not have a magma block down, you can put any other block down, but that will suppress the rapid flow down and you won’t have the bubbles to give you air.
